Therapy

All of us will at times experience challenges, stress, illness and unwanted changes or happenings. Therapy is an opportunity to listen deeply, talk about, explore ways of dealing with challenges in your life and move towards wholeness and peace.

We all need extra support in life to get through difficult times, to know this requires humility and to seek it out takes courage. It is so worth finding the courage!  Therapy is a valuable support during these times and instead of trying to do it all alone, just getting by or soldiering on - it is an opportunity for incredible growth leading to a much more satisfying life.

We can address all sorts of issues including stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life direction, life challenges, work, spirituality and more.

I believe there is an innate wisdom within each of us.  Your body, mind, heart and spirit know how to heal.  Together we create a compassionate, heart-full space for connecting with and honouring this innate wisdom.  I hold space for deep attention that allow shifts to happen that support wholeness and healing.

I offer fresh creative ways to think about and deal with problems and hurdles.  I encourage you to develop a strong and compassionate relationship with yourself - unconditional friendliness towards yourself.  I provide a friendly, safe, respectful, supportive, and confidential environment as we work together.

Healing the past enables you to live fully in the present

"Ultimately, happiness comes down to choosing between the discomfort of becoming aware of your mental afflictions and the discomfort of being ruled by them"

How Can Therapy Help?

Therapy provides a safe place to explore, express and understand yourself, feelings emotions and why things may not be working as you would like them to.  It can help identify unhelpful patterns of thinking.  It can help you to develop communication skills for dealing with conflict and frustration. Therapy can help to heal wounds, understand what limits and drives you, overcome limitations, become comfortable with your emotions, grow in self-acceptance and create new choices.  It can help you to understand and gain perspective on behaviours, emotions and relationships.  It is a way of getting to know yourself more fully, addressing pain, working through loss and adding meaning to your life.  It can make an enormous difference when facing challenges and hurdles in your life.

There are a number of myths and ideas floating around in our culture about therapy.  Sometimes therapy can mistakenly be seen as:

* only for people who are crazy or ready for the loony bin
* a crutch for "weak" people
* only for naval gazers
* weird
* for self-indulgent, self-absorbed or selfish people
* something to be ashamed of

People who come to therapy are actually courageous, strong people.  Therapy is a way to be empowered.  It is for people who want to face their fears, who want more from their life, who want to expand their lives and achieve goals both personally and professionally.  It can be a liberating way to open to the treasures within you.  It can help you to know, understand, experience other people - in all their diversity - with new insights and appreciation.  In fact it is not possible to truly understand and know others until you know yourself. Therapy can transform the way you understand yourself, others, society, history, philosophy, literature, art, music and popular culture.

The work we do together can be a lifesaver, it can be the difference between feeling truly alive or just going through the motions.  Healing the past enables you to live fully in the present.  Working together can help you to know, feel comfortable with and believe in yourself.  It can help you to find a healthy balance of self-knowledge and self love, which in turn leads to awareness, respect and love for others and enjoyment of your life.
